Varangian Hunting Knife

The “Varangian” is a mid sized hunting knife ideal for any hunter or outdoors enthusiast. The 1084 High Carbon Steel has been carefully crafted, and has been heat treated in a 6 stage process to achieve superior durability and sharpness.The Varangian has been specially designed with the bushcraft/survivalist in mind and contains several unique features;


1. Ferro Rod Groove - Each Varangian is designed to have a half circle cut out near the base of the spine to allow a ferro rod to be used to strike sparks. This sharpened groove works well to strike sparks and keep the rod from slipping down the blade, potentially damaging the edge.

2. Through Hardened - This blade has been through hardened, allowing the ferro rod groove to maintain a sharp edge to be effective at striking sparks man times without diminished results.

3. Stonewash Finish - Although the 1084 High Carbon Steel has a tougher edge than most stainless steels, one downside is that the blade is more prone to rust. In order to combat that issue with this knife we give it a stonewash finish, which is an acid etch that gives it a tough, black oxide finish that not only looks tactical and cool, but also protects against rust in harsh environments.

4. Sheath - Each knife includes a Kydex sheath, with the option to upgrade to a hand tooled leather sheath. The kydex sheaths come included with 2-3' of 550 Paracord which can be useful for many situations in bushcraft, and has the option to store much more Paracord around the sheath, thanks to the eyelets that secure the sheath together. In addition the kydex is a great option for draining moisture and the knife snaps firmly into place, making sure you won't lose your knife. The hand tooled leather sheath is a beautiful upgrade option, however is more prone to soaking up moisture in wet conditions.

5. Lanyard Hole - each knife includes an aluminum lanyard tube to allow a lanyard to be placed into it to give better grip and minimize risk of dropping the knife in slippery conditions.

6. Size - with a 6.5" blade the Varangian is designed to be the only knife you need to take with you into the bush. The weight and length of the blade makes it good for chopping through trees and brush, and the recurve allows for finer carving and cutting control of a smaller knife, giving the best of both worlds.

*since this is a high carbon steel knife it may be more prone to rust than a stainless steel knife. We recommend applying mineral oil to protect the blade from rust, as well as keeping it in a dry location and your knife should last a lifetime.
