Hand Forged Brass & Steel BBQ Flipper

Forged with Brass and Steel, this BBQ Flipper is both functional and visually pleasing. It's an essential tool in any grilling set, and brass is a good choice for cookware as it is naturally antimicrobial and easy to clean and maintain. Furthermore, the forged brass gives a little bit of flex to the flipper, yet retaining enough rigidity to easily handle large cuts of meat

Brass is one of my favourite materials to work with, and despite its quirks and difficulties to work with it forms a beautiful finished piece. The handle is forged steel, and I wanted to leave the natural, rough forged look to add some contrasting colour to the brass and leather accents. 

As time goes by and the flipper is used, the brass and steel handles may begin to oxidize. However, you can easily eliminate any surface oxidation or rust by gently scrubbing with 0000 steel wool. Since the brass is tempered I wouldn't recommend leaving the flipper in the grill while its cooking as it may increase oxidation and reduce some of the springiness of the blade if left in high heat for an extended amount of time, however it will hold up just fine with normal use. Additionally, the steel handle is coated with beeswax to prevent rust from forming. After washing, make sure to fully dry the flipper and do not put it in the dishwasher. By following these steps, this tool will continue to work and look great for many years to come.
