Damascus Hunter Blue Maple Burl Handle

Crafted in Winnipeg, Canada, this medium-sized, all-purpose hunting knife boasts a stunning 250-layer composition of 1095 and 15N20 high carbon steel. This blade has been meticulously hand-forged and polished to reveal a beautiful pattern, making it a unique addition to any collection.

While the pattern itself is dramatic, I wanted to source a really unique wood for the handle. I came across some stunning Manitoba Maple, and over the course of several months I stabilized and processed the burl to prepare it for a lifetime of use. The vibrant blue colour comes from the stabilizing process, which involves removing the air from the pores of the wood with a vacuum, and replacing that air with a stabilizing resin. You can use natural colour resins, or a variety of colours. In this case I chose to go with a bright blue, which highlights the grain in a really unique way, in addition to being very durable and water resistant. 

This blade also includes a custom leather sheath, carefully crafted and designed for easy carrying and safe storage.
