Easily maintain the sharpness of your knives at home with our small Strop. Designed with precision and ease of use in mind, our Strop effectively hones the edge of your knives, ensuring they stay razor sharp. Our small leather strop measures approximately 6"x2", and comes pre loaded with green compound for added performance. We offer a variety of sustainably sourced exotic woods such as Purpleheart, Wenge, Pau Ferro, Walnut, Elm, Oak, Paduk, and more to ensure that you have the option to choose the one that will look most home in your kitchen!

Strops can be used alone to maintain an edge and especially with a thin edge such as on a culinary blade may be all that is needed to regularly maintain the edge. Strop the blade fairly often,(several times per month if knife is used daily) and it should only take a few passes to gently remove slight burrs or rolls from the edge, getting you back into action and delaying the need for a full stone resharpening.

To use the strop, simply hold the strop in your hand and with the edge of the blade on the leather side of the strop at about a 20 degree angle, GENTLY drag the knife edge away from the strop, being careful to alternate between the 2 sides of the edge each time. This gently polishes the edge without cutting into the strop. This process helps to realign the edge if there is any micro rolls in the edge. Over time these rolls become more pronounced and eventually wear down causing a loss of sharpness. By regularly maintaining your knife wth a strop you can drastically increase the life of your edge without requiring time consuming resharpening.

Our small strops are designed for blades 5" or less. With care they can be used for larger blades, however the risk of slipping and injury is increased significantly with larger blades. For blades larger than 5" we highly recommend going with our full sized strop, which has a build in handle to help reduce the chance of injury. It is critical to NEVER push the edge of the blade towards the strop, always drag the edge of the knife AWAY from the strop, only applying very GENTLE pressure, the weight of the knife itself should be enough to gently strop the blade. Please make sure to watch our video showcasing how to strop the blade or reach out for clarification. Let the tool do the work and after a few passes you will be back in action!
